My first time directing a choir, sort of :)

Hi all,

It seems that it's time to make another post. :)

At the first of this month (Feb.) we packed up our stuff and when to California for Joe's Grandfather's funeral. I'm so glad we decided to go, because it was a great experience and I was able to get to know Joe's family in California some more. Just before we left, Joe's mother Janetta asked me to direct a choir for the funeral and to sing a song.
The choir was going to be all of the grandchildren that was age 8 and up. Which was a lot. The song that they wanted us to sing was As Sisters in Zion/We'll bring the World His Truth, the EFY Medley. If you haven't heard it, it's a beautiful song. One that will bring tears to your eyes when you hear it. And especially when you sing it. We only had one hour to practice it. And thank goodness that Ann-Marie and Angela were there to help me, or I would've totally lost it. Another amazing thing about this is that we only had like 4 or 5 copies of the song for everyone to look at! It was stressful, and thank goodness that I didn't wig out! For that hour of practice Ann-Marie took the girls upstairs and I had the boys downstairs by the piano. We sang through the song and went through parts that were hard. And over all we were doing pretty good. We did great dispite the lack of music. Poor Ann-Marie was upstairs trying to direct the girls without a piano. But I assume they were doing good because when we got together they sounded great.
So at the end of our practice, we all piled together by the piano. All of our parents and other family members somehow sat down (since there was hardly any room) and listened to us sing. . . . . . . . .Wow, it sounded so good. I was so happy with how it turned out! We really did sound really good. By the time that we actually performed, some of the men had practiced a little more on their own, and we went through it 2 more times all together. Mostly because Ann-Marie and I had to work out how we were leading it. I was so thankful and amazed that we did so well. It really came together so well, it was the highlight of the funeral.

Grandpa's funeral had a wonderful spirit there, and I'm so glad that I could be apart of it. It was amazing watching Grandpa's legacy come together and sing........It was really a great experience. We love you Grandpa.
